Kin Onn has acted for and advised clients in a variety of complex, high-value civil litigation disputes dealing with a wide spectrum of matters, including but not limited to vehicle and industrial accident claims, family & matrimonial matters, commercial estate matters, criminal matters and employment matters.

Kin Onn also advises clients on corporate matters, such as sale & purchase agreements, shareholders’ agreement and share option agreements, as well as regulatory issues, such as data protection laws and financial services regulation.


After being called to the Bar in August 2017, Kin Onn worked at Hoh Law Corporation where he was lead counsel in several trials and appeals to the High Court.

 

Kin Onn joined NLC Law Asia LLC in 2023. With his experience gathered from working in different areas of law, he is confident that he will be able to work with clients to resolve disputes in a cost-efficient and practical manner.

Work Highlights  

  • Counsel acting for the Plaintiff in Rafinn Bin Hasim v Sng Seow Lian and Leong Mee Yit [2020] SGDC 186, a traffic accident case between an electric scooter (ridden by the Plaintiff) and a motorcar driven by the 1st Defendant with the 2nd Defendant as the passenger. Thereafter, succeeded in a cross-appeal to the High Court, with the Defendants’ appeal dismissed.

  • Acted for the Defendant wife in the matrimonial case, VJR v VJS [2020] SGFC 71, and the subsequent appeal to High Court (Family Division) in VJR v VJS and another matter [2021] SGHCF 10, involving disputes over the care and control of a child, identification and division of the pool of matrimonial assets, and adducing of further evidence at appeal.

  • Assisted counsel acting for Heng Siam Yong in Heng Siam Yong v Ready Transport Pte Ltd and another [2020] SGDC 257 and the District Court Appeals to the High Court, a case involving issues concerning employer’s duty of care, occupier’s liability, Workplace Safety and Health Regulations.

  • Acted for a nominee director faced with a criminal charge for failing to exercise reasonable diligence in the discharge of his duties as a director.

  • Assisted counsel acting for a corporate client in the gas production industry, a case involving contractual disputes arising from the supply and installation of a production plant.         

  • Acted for a corporate client claiming for damages arising from business defamation by a competitor.
