NG LIP CHIH

Ng Lip Chih is the founder of Ng Lip Chih & Co and NLC Law Asia LLP, the predecessors of NLC Law Asia LLC.  Pursuant to a tie-up between NLC Law Asia LLC and Foo & Quek LLC, Lip Chih is now a director of Foo & Quek LLC.  However, the NLC Law Asia LLC team still works closely with Lip Chih and would instruct him as counsel from time-to-time, in particular for High Court and Court of Appeal cases or arbitrations involving a high quantum claim, as well as complex or novel issues of law.

BACKGROUND

 

Ng Lip Chih completed his Bachelor of Laws degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also a qualified solicitor of the Supreme Court, United Kingdom. Upon graduation in 1996, he joined the largest law firm in Singapore. Lip Chih was made a Partner after 5 years. In 2004, Lip Chih was seconded to SGX to act as its Head of Enforcement.

 

After spending ten years in the largest law firm in Singapore, Lip Chih left and founded Ng Lip Chih & Co. In 2009, Lip Chih founded NLC Law Asia LLP and was appointed to act as its Managing Partner. In 2014, Lip Chih founded NLC Law Asia LLC and served as its Managing Director. In April 2017, Lip Chih joined Foo & Quek LLC as a Director. Foo & Quek LLC is a reputable legal firm first established in 1972.

 

Lip Chih has extensive experience in litigation, arbitration, criminal and corporate matters. His clientele includes international clients from Japan, China, Indonesia, Holland and USA.

 

In recognition of his experience and expertise in the legal field, Lip Chih has been appointed as a member of various key professional boards and panels, including the following:

 

  1. Lip Chih has been appointed by the Singapore Minister For Law to act as a Statutory Member of the Singapore Law Society Council pursuant to Section 48(1)(B) of the Legal Profession since January 2017. Lip Chih was re-appointed by the Minister For Law to act as a Statutory Member of the Singapore Law Society Council pursuant to Section 48(1)(B) of the Legal Profession for a third term from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022.

  2. Lip Chih has also been appointed a Member of the Disciplinary Panel under the Institute of Valuers and Appraisers, Singapore (IVAS) for the term of 1 July 2021 to 31 March 2023.  IVAS plays an active role in upholding the professional excellence of business valuers and the IVAS Disciplinary Panel plays a vital role in ensuring the continued excellence of Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA) Charter holders. 

  3. Lip Chih has also been appointed an Adjudicator with The Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre Ltd (FIDReC) with effect from 1 January 2022. FIDReC is an Alternative Dispute Resolution institution specialising in the resolution of financial disputes.

  4. Lip Chih was also a committee member of the Professional Development And Practice Chapter, Singapore Academy of Law. The Professional Development And Practice Chapter focused on the development and upgrading of the legal professionals in Singapore.

  5. In addition, Lip Chih was a member of the Audit Committee of the Tanglin Club. The Tanglin Club is one of the oldest clubs in Singapore.

  6.  Lip Chih also served as a Council Member of a Management Corporation for a condominium development in Singapore.
